Green from words to actions

The green concept cannot simply be a trend; rather, it must become a systematic orientation towards sustainability in all areas, starting with the corporate sector.

The green concept cannot simply be a trend; rather, it must become a systematic orientation towards sustainability in all areas, starting with the corporate sector.

Sustainable development can be achieved by adopting effective environmental policies and implementing concrete actions aimed at reducing as much as possible the impact on the ecosystem, both at individual and community level.

From this point of view, environmental safeguarding should become an integral part of company policies, requiring a constant 360° commitment: sustainability must not be a value limited to the supply of green products and services but must involve the entire company life, giving responsibility to all those involved.

Environmental protection, the constant improvement of its environmental impact and the prevention of all forms of pollution have always been fundamental goals for TTS: these assumptions have led the company to develop an approach that is totally oriented towards sustainability, implementing internal policies that range from the use of natural resources and efficient technologies to the adoption of practices that safeguard the environment and health.

energia solare
Solar energy

The Climate Agreement approved in Paris in 2015 formally established the need to combat global warming by reducing the dangerous release of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere.

Solar energy plays a leading role in tackling climate change: it is clean energy derived from the sun's rays that avoids the emission of carbon dioxide (CO2), the main cause of the increase in temperature on the planet. It also avoids the release of air pollutants from the combustion of fossil fuels such as coal, oil and gas, which pose a real threat to health.

TTS invested in this renewable source, producing, and using its own energy: in 2011 we installed a photovoltaic system in our headquarters that completely powers the company's textile production, avoiding the emission of 115 tons of CO2 per year. Subsequently, in 2019, we introduced a second photovoltaic system that completely supplies the Italian production plant with clean energy. An important investment that allows the company to make a concrete contribution to safeguarding not only the environment but also people's health.

acqua
Rainwater and geothermal energy

TTS has set up a rainwater recovery system and a geothermal system at its headquarters to make sustainable use of inexhaustible natural resources such as rainwater and underground heat.

Rainwater is collected in a pool equivalent to an Olympic-size swimming pool and reused to irrigate the company's greenery and feed the fire-fighting system, avoiding the waste of precious and limited resources such as drinking water. A considerable saving considering that, as the European Commission estimates, each person in Europe consumes on average up to 120 litres of drinking water per day.

The installed system guarantees maximum efficiency even in the event of heavy rainfall: excess water is gradually redistributed locally, avoiding overloading of the sewerage system.

The subsoil heat keeps the collected water at a constant temperature of 8-10° all year round: exploiting this principle, the heat pump located in the heating and cooling plant allows the company premises to be air-conditioned in a completely sustainable way. The geothermal system installed makes it possible to heat and cool the rooms by exploiting the Earth's natural heat, guaranteeing in both cases considerable energy savings compared to traditional systems.

led
Sustainable lighting

Considering that 14% of electricity consumption in the European Union is due to lighting, there is clearly a need to switch to new technologies to ensure greater energy efficiency. Therefore, LED lighting is an environmentally friendly solution that reduces energy consumption by 75% compared to outdated incandescent lamps.

TTS uses LED lights to illuminate company areas, making a concrete contribution to the reduction in energy consumption pursued by the European Union. In addition, the company has installed motion sensors that activate the lights only when the presence of people in the premises is detected, thus avoiding unnecessary waste.

borraccia
Reusable jugs and water bottles

Every year 25.8 million tonnes of plastic waste are generated in Europe, some of which ends up in the sea.

The use of disposable plastic, which represents 49% of marine waste, aggravates this phenomenon: bottles, caps and lids are the most found waste on the shores.  Plastic ends up compromising not only the ecosystem but also people's health: the resulting fragments put marine life at risk and reappear on our tables in the fish and shellfish we eat.

TTS decided to contribute to change by implementing internal policies to reduce the consumption of plastic bottles: the company has installed filtered water dispensers in the break areas that are freely accessible to staff, suppliers and customers, providing them with glass jugs.

In addition, the company delivered a reusable water bottle to each employee, eliminating the need to use disposable plastic bottles that can cause damage to the environment and health.
